10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Join us for a workshop at Wildwood to learn about the basics of ecoforestry and how we are applying them at Wildwood.
Ecoforestry is a forest stewardship system which aims at preserving or enhancing ecological functioning while providing for ecologically appropriate levels of harvest or other uses. Participants will be offered some ecoforestry theory, insight into our forestry planning and tree selection, legal protection measures for Wildwood, discussions, a chance to tour Wildwood, hopefully some harvesting in action and the opportunity to socialize and network.
Wildwood is the longest continuously-managed ecoforest on the West coast of Canada aside from First Nation forest management. Timber has been harvested selectively from this forest since 1938, always maintaining essential forest structure including old-growth seed trees, large woody “debris” and snags.
Workshop is by Donation! Open to Everyone This workshop is valued at $100 but is offered this time only by donation to be inclusive to all community members. Please give generously according to what you can afford. All donations fund our work to promote ecoforestry practices across the landscape.
