Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating after a 37-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Sydney early Thursday morning.
Police responded to Argyle Street around 3:40 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of the vehicle is known to them and they are treating the incident as suspicious.
“What I mean by suspicious is that we don’t know how the accident actually took place,” said Cape Breton Regional Police Staff Sgt. Phillip Ross. “We have reason to believe that the gentleman that was struck by the vehicle … was already in the roadway prior to the accident taking place, so we obviously consider that suspicious, and we’re following up on how he ended up in the roadway.”
It’s the second suspicious death in the area in two days, but police say the incidents are not related.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
