Edmonton police are investigating after shots were allegedly fired by an officer late Wednesday night on Whyte Avenue.

Police said the incident took place at about 10:15 p.m., near a convenience store in the area of 99 Street and Whyte Avenue.

Reports indicated officers were investigating a suspected stolen vehicle in the area, when police said shots were allegedly fired by an officer.

EPS said officers were looking for an older model, four-door, white Ford F-350 diesel truck, and the driver.

Police said the Director of Law Enforcement was notified, and has advised the EPS Homicide Unit to investigate the incident.

No other details were released.
