In today’s world of Facebook vacation albums and perfectly curated Insta feeds, it can be all too easy to feel like we’re somehow failing when we don’t measure up to the “perfection” we see on social media. But one blogger is busting the “perfection” myth, one revealing post at a time.
Fitness blogger Sara Puhto posted a side-by-side “fitness” pic, one in which she’s posing totally naturally, and one in which she’s posing for the camera (at an angle designed to appear natural). In the accompanying caption, she reminds us that,
Puhto also wrote, “Don’t eat less or miss out on your favorite meals/drinks or over exercise to “look good for a holiday” or to “look good in bikini photos” because there will always be angles that are “unflattering” that might make you feel bad when you see them. Instead workout and eat healthy because it makes you feel good, not as a punishment.”
Puhto makes a point of regularly posting similar side-by-side photos to remind us just how different “Instagram” and “Reality” can be. Here are just a few more of her fabulous posts.
We are ALL ABOUT this effort to promote body positivity in a time when unrealistic beauty standards are seemingly all around us. It can so incredibly easy to somehow feel “less than” about our bodies, even when they are perfectly natural, normal, and beautiful.
